The Clear Cut UFC 104 Breakdown Shogun vs Machida

Sorry I didn't post right away after the PPV but I want to see how the buzz would be for a couple days throughout the media. I'm sure many of you already heard or saw the contraversial ending to the Machida vs Shogun fight. Although I was 4-0 in my predictions (Not counting the prelims), I agree with everyone's opinion that the Machida Era should have ended Oct 24th.09. Shogun in my opinion won 3 out of 5 rounds with a good, patient game plan.

MMAmania found a chart with a breakdown of the number strikes landed. Shogun through more then double the amount of strikes then Machida and landed in more areas. Check out this chart breakdown for those who are visiual like me.

At the press conference, Shogun looked like a kid who just lost his puppy. He was down and said "I truly feel that I won the fight but what can I do, a fight is a fight" He also went on to talk about how he was told by his corner during the fight that he was winning and that is why he didn't press the action so much in the final round.

This is a flashback to the Micheal Bisping vs Matt Hamill fght where Hamill clearly won. Dana White mentioned during the press conference that there will be a emidiate rematch but somehow I doubt it will happen.

Machida recently did an interview with Sherdog.com where he mentions looking at the fight in mute, you can see that he won. He feels he deserved the win and is looking to move on but if the UFC wants a rematch, he is ready.

Machida went on to mention how the commentators were biased and that we should watch the fight in mute. When I watched the fight, I couldn't really hear the announcers well and by that, I wasn't paying attention to them and I still thought Shogun deserved the win. Also, the crowd in attendance didn't have commentators and all seemed to be pissed by the outcome. I don't think commentators can really be the sole reason for all the hating.
