Thales Leites Cut From UFC

Thales Leites Cut From The UFC

Thales Leites has been kicked to the curb by the UFC after having lost his second fight at UFC 101 to Alessio Sakara. Leites competed less then 4 months ago against MMA’s best pound for pound fighter Anderson Silva for the middleweight title after having earned 5 straight victories in the UFC.

Leites (14-3) made his UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale against Martin Kampmann but lost by unanimous decision. He went on to win 5 straight which includes wins over Nate Marquart and Drew McFedries however he received a lot of criticism for his lackluster performance against Anderson Silva and required an impressive victory in his next fight in order to stay in the UFC’s good grace. Unfortunately, he lost a split decision to heavy handed Alessio Sakara at UFC 101 prompting UFC execs to make the final decision and release him.

Rest assured, the Nova Uniao member should not have much difficulty finding a new home to compete as he is still considered one the worlds best middleweight fighters and can easily be a contender in any other organization.
